Whisky for MAC
Free, open-source Wine app for Apple Silicon Macs that runs Windows apps and games in simple bottles, with a game library and launcher support.
Whisky Overview
Whisky is a free, open-source app that runs Windows programs and games on an Apple Silicon Mac. It is a graphical wrapper for Wine built in native SwiftUI, so you can create and manage bottles, install Windows software and launch it without any technical knowledge. A bottle is a separate Windows environment for your programs. The current version opens onto a library of your games and pinned programs, and it supports launchers such as Steam, Epic, EA App, Rockstar and Battle.net.
This Whisky is an active community fork maintained by frankea. The original Whisky project was archived in April 2025, and this fork is not affiliated with it. If you used the original, the File menu has a command that imports your old bottles in place. Whisky is released under the GPL-3.0 licence. It needs an Apple Silicon Mac and macOS 15.0 or later, and the download is signed and notarized. On first launch it downloads the Wine runtime, about 330 MB, and sets up a default bottle. Sending anonymous usage data is opt-in and off by default.

It replaces the executables that shipped with those games, so titles written for long-gone systems can run on hardware they were never designed for. The project is careful to point out that it is not an emulator: it is a complete rewrite of each game's executable. There is no virtual machine and no Windows license to buy: CrossOver translates what a Windows program asks for into what macOS understands, so the program opens in its own window like a Mac app. It is made by CodeWeavers, whose work is built on the open-source Wine project; CrossOver 26 includes Wine 11.0.Games
